  • Is Your Dog the Right Fit for Our Home?
We’d love to welcome your furry friend to our peaceful and cosy home! Our goal is to create a safe, happy, and relaxed environment for all our guests. To ensure a perfect match, please review the following criteria: Health and Safety Up-to-Date Vaccinations: All dogs must be fully vaccinated, including kennel cough. Parasite Prevention: Routine flea and worm treatments are required to maintain a clean and comfortable space. Size, Neutering, and Energy Levels Small to Medium Dogs (Up to 30 kg): Our home is best suited to dogs under 30 kg with a calm, gentle nature. Neutered Dogs: We welcome neutered dogs to maintain a harmonious group dynamic. Energy Levels: Low to moderate energy dogs thrive here. Higher-energy dogs are welcome if they can regulate their behaviour during calm periods. Behaviour and Training Friendly and Sociable: Dogs who enjoy the company of people and other dogs fit in best. Well-Mannered: Polite dogs that aren’t prone to excessive barking or rough play help maintain harmony. Play Style Compatibility: Gentle play, chase, and sniff-and-explore activities are ideal. Rough or overly intense play isn’t a good match for our group. Basic Training: Dogs who respond to commands like come, sit, and stay tend to settle in quickly. House-Trained: All dogs must be fully house-trained and comfortable in a home setting. Safe Interactions: We cannot accommodate dogs that display aggression, dominance, or resource-guarding behaviours. Home Adaptability Comfortable with Stairs and Hard Floors: Our home has stairs and hard flooring, so dogs should navigate these with ease. Car Journeys: Daily trips to the park require dogs to be comfortable in the car and able to enter/exit independently (especially those over 15 kg). A Calm, Stress-Free Environment We offer a low-stress, relaxed atmosphere for our guests. If your dog enjoys a peaceful setting with friendly companions, they’ll feel right at home. Dogs prone to high anxiety, excessive excitement, or reactivity may be better suited to an alternative environment.
  • How Does the Meet and Greet and Settling-In Process Work?
At Wagging Trails, we prioritise your dog’s happiness and well-being. Our thorough introduction process ensures your dog feels comfortable and has a positive experience with us. Meet-and-Greet We begin with a complimentary session at a neutral location, such as a privately rented dog park. This relaxed setting allows us to: Assess your dog’s compatibility with our resident dogs. Discuss their needs and answer your questions. To maintain a calm atmosphere, we do not host meet-and-greets at our home. However, you can view photos of our home on our Home Tour page and social media. Settling-In Period All new day care dogs go through a trial period of 6–8 sessions (approximately 3–4 weeks, depending on attendance). This allows us to: Observe your dog’s behaviour and compatibility with the group. Help them adjust to our routine. Settling-In Includes: Complimentary Session (3–4 hours): A gentle introduction to our home and group environment. 4–6 Full Day Care Sessions: To build confidence, settle into our routine, and enjoy positive group interactions. If day care isn’t the right fit for your dog, we’ll share our observations and discuss alternative options that better suit their needs. Trial Sleepover (For Boarding) For day care members needing boarding, we arrange a trial sleepover before their first overnight stay to: Ensure your dog is comfortable staying overnight in our home. Familiarise them with our environment. Standard fees apply for the trial sleepover. Once completed, your dog will be welcome to stay with us for future bookings. Full Day Care and Boarding Once your dog has completed the settling-in period, they can join us regularly as part of our day care membership and enjoy exclusive boarding when needed. This structure creates a smooth, relaxed experience, helping your dog feel part of a close-knit, happy group.
